So I have had this blog for quite a while now. It is definitely time to get it started! I decided I would start it off by letting you all know about Mr. Hadley's SURPRISE entrance into this world!
I was 31 weeks and 4 days pregnant on August 25, 2009. I started having contractions at 8pm that night. They started out 20 mins apart. I called my Dr. at 9:45 to let her know what was going on. She told me that if they were still that close together or closer in about an hour then we need to head to L&D. By 10:45 we decided to get our things and go to the hospital. When we got to the hospital the contractions were 4 minutes apart.(these were not braxton hicks) They immediatly hooked me up to the monitors and my contractions were VERY strong and 3 minutes apart. I was in a state of shock and scared to death! That night the nurse ended up giving me two shots of terbutaline to stop my contractions. It didn't work. So they gave me demoral to relax my body & it worked!!!! I stayed over night and left at 9 the next morning. Wednesday(the day I came home from the hospital) went great! No contractions! Thursday...Brandon went to work and I got woken up by a HORRIFIC pain in my lower stomach and back....yep you guessed it CONTRACTIONS again! The first one was at 10:00am, then again at 10:15, then 10:25, then 10:32. I called Brandon, he rushed home got our things and jetted to the hospital. The whole way there I am completely panicked! I had a bad feeling that Mr. Hadley was coming a lotsooner than we planned. We got to the hospital and my contractions were 2 minutes apart. They put an IV in(well after they blew 9 veins) and gave me demoral...it did nothing. They gave me 3 terbutaline shots...didn't work. Last resort was magnesuim sulfate. EHHH! Friday morning at 8 I was taken off the mag drip because it was becoming toxic to my body and dropping my oxygen levels. I was still having contractions every 2 minutes. At 1pm Friday my Dr. came and checked me and sure enough I was 1 cm dialated...not good! They moved me to a bigger room so there would be enough room for the NICU team. When we got to the new room the Dr. went to break my water and I was already 2cm dialated. (It had only been 10 minutes since she checked me last) She broke my water.....and my contractions completely stopped!!!!!!!! Yep the mag drip finally kicked in. I was so upset and kept saying, "we could have waited it out." All of my family and friends were in the room with me to keep me calm. There was a moment of awkward silence and it only took that moment for me to lose it!!!! I was scared to death of not knowing if Hadley would be able to breath, or if his eyes would be damaged from his oxygen levels, and the list goes on.... Brandon was right by my side every minute and we prayed together non stop!!! after 3 looooong days of hard labor Hadley Tate was born Saturday morning at 5:12 am weighing 4lbs 2oz 17 1/4in long! He came out screaming!!! Which mean't my little guy was breathing! They suctioned his lungs right away and passed him to Brandon and I. We held him for 3 minutes and he was taken to the NICU at 5:18am. Hadley stayed in the NICU for 22 days. He is a VERY strong, healthy, happy Little Guy!!! Looking at him now you would never be able to tell he was 8 weeks premature!
